A Global Playlist for Stress Relief

As I ramp up for my final year of high school, I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks reflecting on how I might best tackle the Senior Scaries. If you are anything like me, your usual stress management habits include baking a batch of bagels at 11 pm on a school night, spiraling down a rabbit hole of archived Wordle puzzles, and starting wonky crocheting projects that never quite make it beyond the point of half-completion. Although these techniques are tried and true, I’ve been searching for more time-effective ways to weave in moments of mindfulness and tranquility throughout my daily routine.
What more convenient way is there to relax than to listen to music? What I find often prevents me from regularly implementing healthy stress management techniques is the concern of wasting time. How am I supposed to take 20 minutes out of my day to go on a walk when I barely have time to memorize the Krebs Cycle before my quiz tomorrow? Well, the good news is that I don’t have to create any time to listen to music. Indeed, the average American already spends over 32 hours per week listening to music. Music makes it easy to work in small moments of peace into my schedule. My drive home from school, for example, is only 5 minutes long, which happens to be the perfect length of time to listen to “Invisible String” by Taylor Swift, a song that never fails to soothe my nerves.
With this in mind, I’ve created a playlist of soothing, uplifting music from around the world to enjoy on the car ride home from school, while I clean my room, or during late-night study sessions. I encourage you to do the same!
